ADJOURNMENT Regular Meeting -May 21, 2009 Motion Second Vote Time: -2- CITY OF LYNWOOD REGULAR MEETING OF THE PERSONNEL BOARD MARCH 19, 2009 The regular meeting of the of the Personnel Board of the City of Lynwood was held on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 11330 Bullis Road, Lynwood, California. The agenda was duly posted as prescribed by the Brown Act. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 5:07 p.m. by Chairperson Bradley. Roll call was taken by Alfredo J Lopez, Human Resources Director. Commissioner Attendance: Present-Bradley, Battle, Lopez, Villanueva Absent -None Late -Robinson Staff Attendance: Present - Alfredo J Lopez PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Led by Commissioner Villanueva. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The motion was made by Commissioner Villanueva and seconded by Vice- Chairperson Battle to approve the minutes of the Regular Meeting of February 19, 2009. All in favor. Motion carried. PUBLIC ORALS -None STUDIES AND REPORTS Mr. Lopez provided an overview of the City budget to the Board and stated that the City Council requested additional budget cuts in the March 17th Council Meeting. During the Council meeting, the Council approved the filling of an additional Maintenance Worker for the Street Division. Currently the City has three openings for the Grounds Division at which time Mr. Lopez provided the Board with a copy of the job flyer. These positions meet the critical staffing criteria and the City Council directed the City Manager to fill such vacancies. -3- COMMISSIONER & STAFF ORALS Commissioner Villanueva informed the Board that she was stepping down from the commission. Mr. Lopez asked that she notifiy the City Clerk's Office in writing (Note: This is complete) and thanked her for her services rendered to the City. Mr. Lopez informed the Board that the City had an economic lay off which affected one employee. Without mentioning any names the employee had the opportunity to discuss the matter with the City Manager and is now appealing to the Board. Mr. Lopez requested that the Board start thinking of alternative dates of their availability to hear the requested appeal. He would also like to have preparation time for both sides. During the previous hearing, the Board suggested that Wednesdays would work better for all the members. If this is still the case, the Wednesday dates would be April Stn, 15tH and 22"d. If the Board wishes to have the hearing on Thursday's then the dates would be April Stn, 16tH and the 23~d. Mr. Lopez suggested April Stn and Stn. Vice-Chairperson Battle suggested April 15tH and 16 . ITEMS TO BE AGENDIZED Mr. Lopez will check the availability of the other party and will advise the Board as soon as he blocks dates for the non-disciplinary hearing. ADJOURNMENT Vice-Chairperson Battle made the motion to adjourn and Commissioner Villanueva seconded. All in favor. Motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 5:33 pm. -4-
