Chairperson Mary Sue Lewis said an election is held every two years and the next one will be in July 2007. Suggestions and Goals for 2007: Chairperson Mary Sue Lewis asked for Suggestions and Goals. Commissioner Sylvia Herron suggested the Commission send out donation letters in January 2007 but certainly no later than March 31, 2007 with afollow-up letter in July. The City has a form letter and list of possible vendors we used for the Senior Citizens Center which could be revised to suit our needs. Pearline Calderon, Friend said the Commissioners should make plans for all of their events from January through December. Chairperson Mary Sue Lewis said we have events in March, October, and December Staff Liaison Phyllis Cooper-Lyons introduced Laura Alderete, Marketing and Grants Manager. Laura Alderete said she has been working hard on the Commissioner's Banquet. She stated that next month the minute's clerk will be replaced. Commissioner Margaret Araujo asked will all the letters for donations come from your office. Laura Alderete said her office will centralize donation requests. Pearline Calderon, Friend asked do we choose who to ask for donations. Laura said yes you do. Commissioner Margaret Araujo said the Commissioners go to Laura Alderete with ideas not the friends. Chairperson Mary Sue Lewis said we should send letters to Mattel and other companies; she said if they receive letters from eight different commissions in the City they will divide their donations between the eight commissions. She said today for instance she requested refreshments and finger foods for our women since we didn't have our Christmas luncheon so this is our refreshments; there is no dessert but there is coffee; she said not that she is ungrateful but she said whenever the Commissioners say something they want to do, then let's do it; we do have a little budget; we didn't go on our trip this year so there should have been some funds left over and she thinks everyone of the ladies should have had a little token which shows appreciation in the Christmas spirit. Laura Alderete said again that was part of the transition of the Commission from the Recreation Department to the Marketing and Grants Department and she apologizes for it. One of the suggestions is to have a nice luncheon for the Commissioners to kick off the Ncw Year. Staff Liaison Phyllis Cooper-Lyons said Carol de Jesus was one in a million; she passed out gifts and cards to the Commissioners and Friends. Chairperson Mary Sue Lewis asked if the Commission should send something to former Commissioner Della Mazziotti.
