SUMMAR
Y STATEMENT: The Valley County Commissioners are proposing taking the lead on submitting a request to the Department of Commerce for a grant to fund a full time economic development
position for the area. The requirement from DOC is a group of Cities and/or Counties must jointly apply for the position. The County is proposing Valley County, Cascade, McCall, Donnelly,
Garden Valley, and New Meadows jointly apply. The County is proposing the costs for the first year to cover office space, travel, and overhead be paid by Valley County, with a cost
share to be determined for future years. The person filling the position would receive supervision and guidance from a board consisting of one representative from each of the above
mentioned entities, along with a Department of Commerce representative.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve the County’s request to jointly respond to the Department of Commerce and direct
the City Manager to coordinate with the County for review of the proposal, with a subsequent City Council review of the proposal prior to submission to the Department of Commerce.
