HomeMy Public PortalAboutORD16185SUBSTITUTE OPTION BILL NO. 2021-060 SPONSORED BY Councilmember Kemna ORDINANCE NO. 140119 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AMENDING CHAPTER 12, ELECTIONS, SECTION 36, PERTAINING TO WARD BOUNDARIES. WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed the 2020 U.S. Decennial Census population statistics as it affects the population distribution within the City's five wards; and WHEREAS, the City Council has considered options which balance the populations between the five wards; and WHEREAS, the City Council has selected an option in which ward populations are balanced, neighborhood boundaries are reasonably maintained, and wards remain reasonably compact and contiguous. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Chapter 12 (Elections), Section 36 (Wards), Paragraphs B through F, is hereby amended as follows: See. 12-36 Wards. A. The city is hereby divided into five (5) wards, which shall be named the First Ward, the Second Ward, the Third Ward, the Fourth Ward, and Fifth Ward respectively. B.
