CALL TO ORDER
The June 14, 2010, Council Work Session was convened at 5:30 P.M. by Mayor John
Landwehr.
ATTENDANCE
The following Council Members were present:
Present: Griffith, Harvey, Koon Medin, Penfold, Scrivner
Absent: Carroll, Ferguson, Pope, Struemph
A quorum was present.
DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS
Sidewalk Condition Inventory
City Administrator Steve Rasmussen began the presentation by introducing the topic of the
recent sidewalk condition inventory, and turned it over to City Engineer Matt Morasch. Mr.
Morasch made a presentation showing how the recent inventory of sidewalk conditions was
performed and stated that staff believes the cost to repair sidewalks would be about $1.1
Million, and that figure is much less than originally estimated without the inventory. He
answered questions asked by the Council. At the conclusion of his presentation, Mayor
John Landwehr suggested putting the issue on the Public Works & Planning Committee
agenda to discuss the presentation. Councilman Jim Penfold stated that the issue had
come from the Public Works & Planning Committee to be brought before the full Council,
but that they would be willing to discuss it further if the Council wished.
Distribution of Mayor's Budget
The 2010 -2011 Mayor's Budget was distributed to the Council Members and Finance
Committee Chairman Rich Koon stated that unless he received objections, he would like
to continue using the "Parking Lot" method during the upcoming budget season as it had
worked well the last couple of years.
Final Report on Citizen Survey
Mr. Steve Veile and Mr. Ed Stroesser of Communique, Inc., and Dr. Lois Hildebrand of
Lincoln University, made a presentation explaining the data collected, and methods used

for collecting said data, during the recent Citizen Survey. At the conclusion of the
presentation, the presenters answered numerous questions asked by the Mayor and
Council. Mayor John Landwehr asked City Administrator Steve Rasmussen to make
recommendations to the Council about any follow -up actions it can take to ensure the
citizens who participated in the survey that they have been heard.
