WHEREAS, the Governing Body of the Borough ofCarteret has determined that it is in the public interest to consider designating and establishing a Federal Boulevard Redevelopment Area, within the Borough in accordance with the Local Redevelopment and Housing Law (codified at NJ.S.A. 40A: 12A-l et seq. "Redevelopment Law"); and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 6 of the Redevelopment Law, no area of a municipality shall be determined a redevelopment area unless the governing body ofthe municipality shall, by resolution, authorize the planning board to undertake a preliminary investigatio to determine whether the proposed area is a redevelopment area according to the criteria set forth in Section 5 of the Redevelopment Law; and WHEREAS, the governing body wishes to assign the conduct of the preliminary investigation and hearing(s) to the Carteret Planning Board pursuant to the provisions of the Redevelopment Law; and WHEREAS, it is proposed that the redevelopment study area be comprised of the Tax Block( s) and Lot( s) set forth on the attached Schedule "I". NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough ofCarteret, County of Middlesex, State of New Jersey as follows: 1. That the Carteret Planning Board is hereby authorized to initiate and undertake a preliminary investigation and hearing(s) to determine whether a proposed Federa Boulevard Redevelopment Area consisting of the above delineated properties, or any ofthem, is a redevelopment area as required by Section 6 ofthe Redevelopment Law. 2. That the Carteret Planning Board, following said preliminary investigation and hearing(s), make a recommendation to the Mayor and Council pursuant to Subsection b. of Section 6 of the Redevelopment Law as to whether the propose Federal Boulevard Redevelopment Area is an area in need of redevelopment. 3. That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the Carteret Planning Board for action consistent therewith.
