SUMMARY STATEMENT: Council directed staff
to take steps to seek voter approval of a local option tax. Attached is the draft ballot that incorporates the work of the last Local Option Tax Committee, the current citizen’s group
who are working in support of a Local Option Tax, the staff, and the input received from Councilmembers. The ballot must be approved by Council and submitted to the Clerk at this time
for inclusion in the November election. Once approved, the citizen’s group will continue their work with a shift of focus to education. Staff will act in support. Staff will also
prepare a final version of the ordinance required, draft copy also attached.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve the draft ballot and direct the City Clerk to take all actions required
to include the LOT on the November ballot.
