SUMMARY
STATEMENT:
The ad hoc conference center committee worked with Jinneman, Kennedy, & Mohn (JKM) on the Market and Economic Feasibility Study. The committee reviewed and generally agrees
with JKM’s conclusions. The committee has developed a two-part recommendation for the City Council and will present their recommendation.
Staff anticipates contracting with JKM or
another consultant to assist with the selection process, subsequent negotiations, and project implementation. A total of $10,000 ($3,700 USDA, $1,300 Chamber, and $5,000 City) is available
from the USDA grant for this purpose. EDA grant funds may also be available. All contracts with consultants will require future Council action.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
1. Reaffirm
the City Council’s commitment to participate, up to and including, partnering in the construction and operation of a conference center.
2. Authorize staff to distribute the Request
for Proposals.

review by legal counsel.
