Guest fees have doubled in the last 10 years. Rental prices have not. Now the board is proposing a series of measures that will
potentially cripple short term rentals. By requiring property owners to use management companies in order to satisfy the 24 hour
local access requirement,you are potentially making it unaffordable for owners to even rent out their TD home.And renters,faced
with rising amenity fees, occupancy taxes from the town of Truckee,and passed on "nuisance"charges,will be less inclined to rent
themselves.This is incredibly short sighted,given how much TD amenity revenue depends on STRs. In the long term TD amenities
will likely find themselves hurting. What then? Raise the HOA and homeowner amenity fees significantly to cover the deficit?At this
rate you are going to price out both homeowners and renters-including the minority permanent residents you are trying to"help"
with these STIR mandates.
