My father arrived in Truckee by train in 1927, and my grandchildren grew up here so I have opinions.This area (including Lake Tahoe
and Squaw Valley)cannot take the number of short-term visitors and second homeowners that some developers and some
businesses are proposing.All of this is based upon short-term vision along with the mindset that allowed the Tahoe Keys to be built,
which is pretty much "take the money and run. " We have the privilege of living in one of the most beautiful areas on the planet,and
it's unconscionable to exploit it in the way that we have been doing. We have a duty to our children and their children,and the
decisions we make now will go down in history. Come from your hearts, and speak up for the environment if you care-and if you
dare.
