First,on the decision to move forward-or-not with renewing the Transient Occupancy Tax Program:We feel this topic should be postponed until after COVID restrictions are lifted and homeowners are allowed to appear in person to convey.The fact we had a tough time communicating tells me others had equal issue. If you don't postpone,then we want you to know we absolutely do not think renewing the TOT program is the right path.The Kositch Family own two homes in Truckee is absolutely against renewing the Town of Truckee Transient Occupancy Tax.TOT is shameful proof the city cannot manage the tax income it receives from homeowners and commercial businesses.Truckee has had massive growth over the last 5 years.With this growth the City has received significant tax income.The Town of Truckee needs to learn to develop a budget, keep to the budget and stop seeking additional funds to cover what should be in the budget.A 12%tax is unacceptable especially given we have an over-abundance of visitors coming to town during COVID.We don't see there is no need to advertise for more visitors to come especially given the start-stop threats if we can even come to our homes if we don't live there full-time.
