Name Mackenzie Bathurst Email kenzie.morris@gmail.com Phone (optional) Public Comment While completely eliminating all STIR is not a viable option I would like to see them limited in a way that provides answers for both locals and second home owners. While I do believe full time residents should have the option to rent their primary home while on vacation, this should not be limited. If someone is using their second home to make extra income or pay for their second home and profit, this is where STIR should be limited. As a neighbor to a STIR that was constantly revolving the doors to different groups I was kept up late at night, scarred for fire when they dumped hot ash off their deck, and my house would fill with cigarette smoke if I left the window open. The owner never used the home and was simply using it for profit. I had to request a rental on Airbnb to inform them their deck had been ripped off the front of the house because no one bothered to shovel. This story is not unlike so many others and it has been a constant issue of contempt. The stark difference from the STIR Airbnb neighbor vs the one managed by a vacation rental company across the street was huge, when the bear broke in I could call the manager and within 1-2 hours the neighborhood was clean and a person was there. I know third party STIR websites are trying to change this and have a representative locally but I have yet to see this be successful, and have tried many times to report issues when they come up with no luck. These online profit STIR companies not only move revenue outside the basin but they only profit the homeowner at the expense of everyone around them. It would be my suggestion to severely limit the Airbnb VRBO and any other online third party site to 21 days of rentals in a given year. It is a second home not a for profit cash cow at the neighborhoods expense. In addition I believe 3months should be the minimum for a long term rental which would be an alternative to the 21 days of STIR in a given year. This illuminates the lmonth loophole and provides seasonal housin lf your comment exceeds 2000 characters, please use the attachment function below to attach your comment in a separate document. Attachment i Please ensure that you enter your email address in the box below and click the SUBMIT button to receive a copy of your submitted responses for Public Comment.
