Name Sheldon Schwebel Email bethshel@pacbell.net Phone (optional) Public Comment "Short term rentals"are similar to the gig economy of Uber and Lyft.Where people can increase their income independently without being subjected to additional government costs and mandates. Therefore no additional requirements, expenses and restrictions should be imposed by Truckee. This November there is a Proposition 22 on the ballot that is proposed ("11/3/2020 Prop 22: By A 4-1 Margin California App-Based Drivers Prefer Independence. Prop 22 Protects 1 Million At Risk Jobs.Vote Yes To Protect Independent Contracting Work.")Truckee should consider this vote in regarding the proposed ordinance as a notice that"Short Term Rental"owners should not be further encumbered so that their income and independence is diminished. The proposed restrictions are already codified in Truckee's laws regarding noise, parking, garbage, fire safety and compliance to the Transient Occupancy Tax. If these codes need to be updated to reflect"Short Term Rentals"then that should be done rather than establishing new laws for one specific group(Short Term Rentals).Compliance to existing regulations should be implemented before new regulations are instigated. I have Truckee TOT License#91 and have been paying the quarterly tax to the Truckee for many years. With the covid 19 pandemic I have not been able to"short term rental" because of the onerous sterilization and sanitary requirements requirements needed to prevent the spread of the virus and the moral and legal responsibility of not being the cause of someone contacting the disease. So with many owners, like myself who rent,we are not getting the extra income and Truckee should not be imposing new costs and restrictions on Short Term Rental owners. lf your comment exceeds 2000 characters, please use the attachment function below to attach your comment in a separate document. Attachment Please ensure that you enter your email address in the box below and click the SUBMIT button to receive a copy of your submitted responses for Public Comment. 1 Thank you, Town of Truckee This is an automated message generated by the Vision Content Management System'"".Please do not reply directly to this email. 2
