Over the past 5 years I have seen a major change in my community for the worse. Litter,traffic,lines at Safeway,drivers driving dangerously, house parties,vacation rentals getting trashed and stolen from, lines at Squaw,etc. Now my street in Truckee looks like a scene from Speing Break in Palm Spring during the 90's. I can barely walk on my road with my kids and dogs without worrying about being hit by a car or getting Covid19. Neighborhood vacation rental houses are obvious to the locals and are making a negative affect on the community.They are having huge parties during even during Covid 19, blaring music after hours and leaving their trash piled up outside the house when they leave.Grocery stores are beyond their max,our roads are unsafe with all the out of town drivers who are speeding and not abiding my road signs such as yields and roundabouts,our schools are enrolling beyond their max, life lines are out of control,donner state park has more litter and trash then I have ever seen it, but beyond that the whole feel of the community is tense,stressed out,angry and has a city life feel.The locals are getting fed up.We used to have a reprieve before and after the holidays and summer. Now we don't. Our community can't sustain this many people full time of people who don't care about our community and look at it as a temporary party zone. It's not it's our home and we need to keep it looking and feeling like one. I recommend no STIR only long term of a month or longer period.Also,a two strikes your out if the vacation renter doesn't abide by certain rules. House deposits need to be increased and a larger temporary occupancy fee needs to be implemented to offset the damage,litter,traffic,and harmful impact these people are having on our environment and community.
