I strongly support Truckee's efforts to bring some order and reasonableness to the STIR situation and excesses. Having owned my
residence and paid many tens of thousands of dollars of local property&other taxes here for almost 25 years, I have seen these
problems explode from out of nowhere in recent years. I have personally observed trash issues, parking issues(both number of
vehicles&location),lighting issues,apparent over occupancy,dogs running loose and barking constantly with no active
supervision,off-road vehicle and drone use in inappropriate areas, late night noise issues and other previously outlier problems in
various surrounding STRs.What was once a once a year or less sort of problem has gotten as frequent as weekly.While not all of
these are unique to STR's,STR's have certainly brought a raft of outsiders in who all to frequently don't respect or understand the
local area and community. I don't think there is any mystery here this for-profit industry has driven a widespread set of problems,far
more than the old sleepy ski lease market. STR's in general are causing a big increase in negative externalities to their neighbors.
These rental owners get the benefit of very lucrative nightly per weekly income,but it is very much partly at the expense of my and
other neighbors'quiet enjoyment and privacy.That simply is not fair. STR's are also making local housing less affordable and driving
out other long term residents who are the backbone of our community. I would like to support them, not folks pocketing lots of
extra income on an absentee basis. I suspect many of them are not properly registered and paying relevant TOT and other similar
fees either.Some are of course, but many don't seem to be still. STR's are also bringing more traffic,congestion,and intensification
of use. Please bring some sensible and uniform order to this, in all of lighting, parking, noise,trash,occupancy load and other
negatives..Thank you.
