It addresses the key problems experienced by our residents, and includes reasonable enforcement provisions that should be effective. Many of its provisions are already followed by responsible STIR operators. I want to thank you again for pursuing this important initiative. I know there may be opposition from some of the commercial STIR operators who operate as full-time STRs. Some out-of-town STIR operators can be unaware or unconcerned with the adverse impacts and neighborhood degradation caused by problem short-term renters. However, the common sense provisions in the ordinance will prevent the problems that arose in South Lake Tahoe, while striking a balance that permits responsible STRs. I believe that the interests of the vast majority of residents and of the Town will be served by this ordinance and that it will be strongly supported.
