Name Allan Crawford Email allancrawford@mindspring.com Phone (optional) Public Comment First I would like to thank the Town of Truckee Staff and our City Council for moving forward quickly with this important Ordinance and Permit Program.As a resident of Truckee with a home Tahoe Donner I am all too well aware of the issues associated with Short- Term Renters who abuse their stay in our residential neighborhood...and of the property owners who do little or nothing to control those who rent their properties.We frequently see far more vehicles parked at property than the driveway will accommodate, parking on the lot(which is also a fire danger)and on the adjacent street.We see large crowds at homes...clearly more than 2 per bedroom.We hear people partying well into the night.On properties near us that have easements,we see the easements blocked by thoughtless renters.And we see overflowing trash containers, placed on the street well before pickup day.We see renters place trash in the neighbors bins. I strongly support the Town's proposed Ordnance. Key to success will be(1) having a 240 reporting line where the City responds within a few minutes of the call,(2) requiring all STIR Operators, regardless of how many days per year they rent,to have a permit,and to abide by all rules, (2) requiring all STIR Operators to have a 60 minute response time in event of a complaint...there should be no exceptions to this rule,(3) strictly enforcing occupancy limits(many of the problems-parking-too much trash-loud parties are associated with large groups...enforcing occupancy limits will help elevate many of these issues).And perhaps most important of all is enforcement. If rules are not enforced...they will be ignored.The enforcement must be prompt and penalties sufficient to discourage dangerous, noxious and inappropriate behavior.The penalties need to include revocation of the STR permit for repeat offenders. lf your comment exceeds 2000 characters, please use the attachment function below to attach your comment in a separate document.
