I fully support Truckee's proposed Short-Term Vacation Rental Ordinance. Short-term rentals in Tahoe Donner where I live have
become a revolving door or renters, which is annoying to me as a full time resident. One thing I would like to see added to the
Ordinance regards cigarette smoking. The condo next door to me is a short term rental, and on a couple of occasions the renters
smoked off the back deck. My major concern is improper disposal of ashes from the cigarette into the back yard,which could start a
wildfire. I also have seen renters walking in the backyard with a cigarette in hand. Cigarette smoking on the back deck is also a
nuisance as the smoke travels over to my deck. Since I am sensitive to smoke, I cannot use my deck when renters are smoking on the
deck next door. I would like to see some language in the ordinance to prohibit smoking outside of the rental (e.g.from the back
deck). Thanks for your consideration.
