I do not see how dividing the town of truckee(of which I am a non-STRing home homeowner) in str vs everyone else actually solves the problems that the ordinance claims to want to solve. Issues relating to noise,parking,trash, trash,etc and the enforcement thereof should APPLY TO ALL including locals,visitors,st renters,ski leasers,friends of homeowners where no$is exchanged,summer leasers,medium term renters.The problem is lack of enforcement for what we have,and that goes for all properties(full time residences,second homes, LT/MT/ST rental) in violation of ordinances regarding noise,trash, light pollution,etc.This can be seen in my neighborhood of Tahoe Donner where other home owner residents are blasting music late at night and taking their trash out too early so wildlife gets into it.They are doing this alongside all other users of homes in TD.A few very loud folks will have you believe that it's and us vs them issue but it is not.ALL PERSONS need to be held accountable.You sew discord by dividing us. I prefer the STIR ordnance as is. Homeowners are incentivized to register their homes because it is a fee-free registration.This encourages compliance and cooperationwith the city.Otherwise we attract bad actors.We shouldn't be blindly copying what other cities have done. We should be crafting something worthy of the residents of Truckee. One where all persons are treated equally.Also I don't approve of the min 2 night stay.This disadvantages persons of lower socio economic status.Growing up my family traveled by camping for a week,then 'splurge'on renting a modest mtn home to recoop for a night. It helped us feel we were as good as the middle class/rich folks around us. It was IMPORTANT to us we could do this for our wellbeing.
