I have repeatedly and openly asked for anyone to name three positives that STRs bring to our community ASIDE from money. I've put this question out to nearly 4,000 people on my personal Facebook page in addition to over 2,200 on the Truckee Tahoe Litter Group page. I didn't receive one single comment as to how STRs benefit our community. Not one single comment as to how these micro-hotels benefit our quality of life,contribute to the arts and culture or strengthen our community.The reason;THEY DON'T benefit the community in any meaningful way aside from profit.Yes,the STIR market has created it's own micro-economy. But in the process has also been a contributing factor to over inflated real estate, less long-term rentals which pushes the very workforce that STRs create jobs for out of the area to find their own housing. STR's ad ZERO value to the quality of life. Increased traffic,garbage, noise,strain on all of our infrastructure from our roads to EMS calls.The community is asking Council to consider what is best for our community, NOT what is best for people to make a profit by turning residential homes into nothing short of commercial entities.STRs ARE a business-and they are destroying the character of our town and similar mountain towns.STRs gut our community and often profit people that don't even live here-people that could care less about the quality of our lives.Thanks.Court lf your comment exceeds 2000 characters, please use the attachment function below to attach your comment in a separate document.
