I feel it is a good start to focus on noise, lights left on,too many people in one house, parking issues,garbage issues, party houses,to name but a few key STIR problems.So please continue with this.An STIR ordinance needs a twenty-four hours seven days a week reporting hot line, email/text center.All complaints need prompt follow up and all operators/owners need to follow up within thirty to sixty minutes of a report.All violations need heavy fines. Both to help offset this new burden and costs put on the town,as well as to serve as punishment to deter violations. Running an STIR carries a huge responsibility,and any violations come with hefty fines,and repeat violations result in revoking the privilege to run a STIR. How did we get to this place of STR's out of control?Zoning laws have existed for the entire 45 years I have been here. Bars, restaurants,auto repairs, retail stores,etc.are not allowed in residential neighbor hoods where people have their sanctity,where their house is a home.Why is it that mini hotels are allowed in every residential neighborhood,with no cap, no limit, no zoning requirements?With my business I was in a commercial building,paying commercial property tax,having yearly fire inspections, paying commercial rates to TSD TTSA, having commercial building codes to adhere to, parking requirements.The list goes on.A fundamental question that we as a community need to ask is why do we allow out of control proliferation of STRs?Why do we allow mini hotels/commercial enterprises to destroy our neighborhoods where we live? We all now bear the consequences of tourism out of control dumped next door.There is no escaping it.
