If we can limit the STRs, it helps prevent how many people will want to sell just for the sake of owning an STR..and may encourage new owners to continue with long terms tenants, housing the people who live and work,supporting Truckee,year round. B. Registration fee for STIR operators/owners,AND that money gets used specifically towards helping ease rent cost for families/individuals who live and work in Truckee,year round.A rent relief with these funds would be more beneficial for the community of Truckee than incentivizing long term rentals. Incentivizing long term rentals puts money in the pockets of second home owners who will not use that money to contribute to the local economy(if they rent out to long term tenants,they are not spending their monies here).Also, incentivizing long term rentals might suggest rent control, but it doesn't mandate rent control.We need more LTR, but we need affordable LTR for the mass majority of essential workers making$15 an hour.Safety:A.Two people to a room in a 3 bedroom house(size of my home) plus two more,is 8 humans. Now, multiply that by 9(number of STRs on my street of 12 homes)and that is 72 humans.That's an incredibly large demand on energy, resources,water,WIFI,trash,etc.that many homes and local services are ill equipped to handle.And if 8 humans take 4 cars... it's an issue as a parking hazard,and fire safety should evacuation need take place.AND, puts the town in a gridlock should we have weather. I would hope this issue would be mended with the registration process limiting the number of STRs.. Bit perhaps a limit to the number of cars at an STIR,specifically,might help. B.
