As Tahoe Donner property owners, my partner Ken Murray and I have hosted guests in our Tahoe Donner home for over twelve
years now while not using it ourselves. I have been visiting the Tahoe region from the Bay Area for over 25 years now. Before owning
a home in Tahoe Donner, I have been part of ski leases, stayed with friends who owned homes and I have rented homes with groups
of friends. We also live in Sonoma County now where there are many properties that are both second homes and vacation rentals,
and where a vacation rental ordinance has been in place for over ten years now. If the Town of Truckee's objective is to reduce
nuisance behaviors such as excessive noise,trash,overloaded parking then the Town should address these behaviors. By creating
rules that target only one group of property owner is discriminatory.These behaviors do not solely exist at short term rental
properties but happen at ski leases, long term rentals, second homes and full time residences as well.And if the Town wants to
reduce nuisance behaviors,then enforcement is necessary.
