Valley County had some insurance coverage on the facility, but it was not sufficient to totally replace the structure. Valley County staff contacted the Community Development Department regarding seeking possible grant funding. The USFS has a grant program which would allow for replacement of the structure. Through discussion with Valley County staff, it was agreed that this was an opportunity to improve the quality of the structure. Valley County designed a larger facility, and replaced the roof component, at a cost of $15,267. (matching funds) Grant funds would be used to install siding, informational signs, and install a concrete floor. Grant administration costs incurred by the City of McCall would be included. Estimated grant request is $7500. Since this facility is used to a significant degree by the citizens of McCall, a joint partnership in submitting the grant application is desirable. The City of McCall would be the grantee, and would partner with Valley County to complete the project. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve the grant application, and authorize the Mayor to sign.
