SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Several of the business owners on Industrial Rd. have come to the City looking for help regarding the dust problem in this area.
All of the heavy truck traffic in and out of the gravel pit chews up the road and stirs up dust. The business owners have come to the City with an offer to participate in the paving
of 1,160 lineal feet of roadway. This project would start at the City’s wastewater treatment facilities main entrance and end at Boydstun St. They are willing to donate the road preparation
and grading and are asking the City to pay $7,500.00 towards the total cost of the project. Valley Paving and Asphalt’s cost estimate was $25,000.00, a savings to the City of $17,500.
The road will be built to City specifications and the paving will eliminate future grading and dust abatement problems. Eliminating the dust problem will prolong the life of the
blower filters at the wastewater treatment plant.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Accept the donation and endorse the use of $7,500 of current FY budget towards the project.
