A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD APPROVING
THE IMPLEMENTATION OF STREET PROJECTS TO BE FUNDED WITH THE
AMERICAN RECOVERY AND REINVESTMENT ACT OF 2009 FUNDS;
DELEGATING THE AUTHORITY TO AWARD AND EXECUTE A PROFESSIONAL
DESIGN CONTRACT FOR RELATED PROJECTS TO THE CITY MANAGER AND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR DESIGNEE TO MAKE THE NECESSARY
~ FUNDS APPROPRIATION AND TRANSFER FOR THE DESIGN OF THESE
' PROJECTS
I' WHEREAS, The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 provides
funds for federal and state programs to stimulate the nation stagnant economy; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood will receive approximately $1.5 million for its
share of the infrastructure improvement program; and
WHEREAS, said funds are to be used for the construction of the following street
projects:
1. Imperial Hwy. between Atlantic Ave. and the east city limits
2. Martin Luther King, Jr. Bivd. between Atlantic Ave. and the east city limits
3. Otis St. between Abbott Rd. and Imperial Hwy.
WHEREAS, it is necessary to solicit consulting design services for the Martin
Luther King, Jr. Project, which cost has been estimated at $120,000; and
WHEREAS, staff has identified availabie Prop C funds that can be used to pay
for the design work of said project; and
WHEREAS, the design of said street needs to be started expeditiously; and
WHEREAS, the Lynwood Municipal Code Section 6-3.10 limits the authority of
the City Manager to award and execute professional contracts that do not exceed
$15, 000.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES
HEREBY FIND, PROCLAIM, ORDER, AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the Lynwood City Council approve the use of the City's
allotment of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 funds for the
construction of the following projects:
1. Imperial Hwy. between Atlantic Ave. and the east city limits
2. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. between Atlantic Ave. and the east city limits
3. Otis St. between Abbott Rd. and Imperial Hwy.
Section 2. That the City Council delegate the authority to award and execute
the professional design contract for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. Project to the City
Manager, subject to the City Attorney's approval as to the form of the contract.

following funds appropriation and transfer:

Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
Section 5. The City Clerk shall certify as to the adoption of this Resolution.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 17th day of March, 2009.
