Grant Coordinator
SUMMARY STATEMENT: As council is aware from a previous presentation, this particular grant must be acted upon by 08/27/02. Since my initial presentation,
several factors have come to light regarding this matter. Specifically, due to the diligent efforts of Lt. Moore and Officer Donica, the department has been fortunate to recruit a voluntary
Level II Reserve Police Officer who is willing to commit his time and energy toward code enforcement. We anticipate this individual to be ready for service within weeks. Given this
opportunity, and the fact that I am still working with the Police Committee on staffing, and while my originally stated concern regarding turning down awarded grants is still of concern,
at this time, I believe it to be our most fiscally prudent course of action.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve the Chief’s recommended course of action regarding turning down the grant
and endorse the Chief’s appointment of a Reserve Officer to assist with code enforcement.
