We had a long and generally positive discussion about it, with Councillors Marra and Comfort and myself speaking in support of course ... but we weren't able to persuade the others. The rest of Council agrees that there could be a benefit to connecting with other communities like Truckee, but they were concerned about committing to something too formal. I think that our recent experience as a sister community to Higashikawa in Japan, which I have referenced, has left the others very hesitant about engaging in another formalized agreement. Regardless, I do hope that we will keep in touch and share experiences through this positive relationship that you and I have established. Please pass along my sincere regrets to the others there who have been involved in our discussions. Fingers are crossed that it goes well. All is good here in Truckee except very dry and unseasonably warm right now. Hope that all is well with you and the Town of Canmore. Will look forward to hearing how it goes with the Sister City discussion. Until then, all the best! This meeting is when we have the opportunity to bring things that are not yet on a formal agenda forward for a general discussion. I hope that all is well with you, and things in Truckee are ticking along nicely! It was a real pleasure having you and Councillors Comfort and Marra spend some time with us in Truckee. We continue to be excited about the prospect of formalizing a relationship with Canmore in what would be our first international Sister City relationship. Towards that end, attached is a draft Sister City agreement that could serve the purpose in a very simple and straightforward way. I'd appreciate your review and thoughts on the draft as to whether or not you believe that this might work for the Town of Canmore. I'm fairly certain that our Council is ready to consider and move forward. In fact, we are hoping to have this on the agenda at our December 10th Council meeting if possible, which would happen to be my last Council meeting in the Mayor role. 2 Please let me know if you would like to have a phone call to discuss the draft as I'd be happy to do so. It seems like we would have quite a bit to share as communities on so many important fronts. Thank you again for considering.
