SUMMARY STATEMENT: The Chief of Police
asked the Council to support the formation of a committee to help define the community’s expectation of our police department. Seventeen people responded, of which we are recommending
a cross-section that we believe represents a wide variety from within the community. The following individuals are the recommended members: Ralph Colton, Kirk Eimers, David Fields,
Scott Findlay, Frances Ford, Louie Howard, Steve Millemann, Rod Nielsen, Marty Thiede, Mike Truxel, and Kim Zeydel. We would envision the committee form and develop a charter for Council
approval as their first step in helping define the expectations for the police department. We would recommend that the committee be given a time-frame to complete their work, culminating
in a report to the City Council, that time frame to be set in conjunction with approval of the charter.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Appoint the recommended individuals to the police
committee and direct the committee to present a charter for Council approval at the July 11th City Council Meeting.
