Approval of Minutes: Jim moved and Heidi seconded approval of the June 16 minutes as published. Motion carried on a voice vote with all voting in favor. New Business: Holly presented the Capitol Ave. mural design from artist Amy Greenbank with the commission. She stated that the City currently has code that prohibits public murals from being within 500 feet of one another, which could affect future projects. Councilman Hussey stated that a variance could be requested through Board of Adjustment. After discussion, commission members asked staff to look into options to amend City Code to be less restrictive. At this point, Holly introduced Amy Greenbank and recused herself from the design discussion. Amy presented the elements of her mural. Lori asked that a plaque be onsite to provide these details. Commission members provided Amy with feedback, which she will apply to her final design and send for approval at a later date. Other Business: Leann reported on Paint the Ice, held at Washington Park Ice Arena on July 17. Participants were given paint and brushes and painted directly on the ice bed after the summer skating recital. She said future events could expand to include professional artists. Leann relayed an update for fall Porchfest. The venue was moved to Capitol Ave as it allows for more social distancing than the original planned location of Fairmount Blvd. Depending on future circumstances, the event may be modified to virtual like spring Porchfest. Adjourn: Jim moved and Heidi seconded adjournment of the meeting. Motion carried with all voting in favor. Meeting was adjourned at 12:56 pm.
