This was my only option, as there was no way I could afford to live in the area I work. I am married and have a dual income. Despite having two incomes, and making more than many in the service industry in Truckee (serving the elite who can afford to live here), it is still not affordable to live here. I work for a Non-profit in the area that works to serve families and individuals in this area. Many of the community members we help can not afford to live in this area either, and are struggling. I hope this council can look at this issue and take action on ensuring affordable housing for those who make up this vibrant community, before they are all forced out-- leaving no one to serve those who can afford it. A first step would be in providing affordable rental properties. However, long term plans to provide residents and workforce opportunities to invest in assets and create long term financial health, in part through the purchase of their own homes, rather than re -investing in the wealthy through rentals, should be the goal. Thanks for taking this into consideration. - A fellow human being with worth, despite a lack of wealth Upon clicking submit, your comment will be emailed to the relevant Council, Commission, or Committee Members and Town Department Heads and uploaded to the Town website for public view.
