I would like to request something be added to the General Plan that is up for review. In April 2009, Bay Area Economics (BAE) performed an Economic Development Strategy for the Town of Truckee. In the Action Plan on Page 13 under "Initiative 1: Build on Truckee's Strengths and Uniqueness,' is Action 1C and how Truckee needs to position itself to thrive in the New Economy. One of the recommendations states: Support and expand local and regional sustainable food supply efforts, including support for local and regional food growers and distribution systems (e.g., Community Supported Agriculture program; local greenhouse farming to the extent it is feasible). Local food systems are critical for our mountain town to be resilient during times of pandemic and growing threats of climate change. Tahoe Food Hub would like to partner with the Town of Truckee to evaluate how we can pull resources to strengthen our local food system. It could be initiative of Keep Truckee Green. Regenerative Agriculture is one of the most effective ways we can sequester carbon in the soil and mitigate climate change. By working together, TOT and TFH could cross -promote a joint town program to encourage purchase of local food grown using regenerative sustainable growing practices. Thank you for your consideration! Susie Sutphin Founder/Senior Advisor Tahoe Food Hub Do you have reference documents to upload?* Yes No L -
