SUMMARY STATEMENT:
With the June 2003 combination of the Parks Department and
the Recreation Department,, the two individual Advisory Committees should be replaced by a single Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee. This change will provide comprehensive support
and counsel as the department faces new challenges. The draft Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee charter is included as an attachment to this agenda bill. The individuals having
expressed an interest in serving on the new, combined Advisory Committee are listed on the attached document.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve the replacement of the Parks Advisory
Committee and the Recreation Advisory Committee with a new Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee. Approve the charter for the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee and appoint the
initial members as recommended by staff.
