SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Representatives from Treasure Valley Transit
(TVT) will provide a status report on the transit demonstration program, in operation since June 1. Additionally, TVT will discuss an application for Federal funds to continue the transit
system.
The Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC) scheduled a meeting with TVT on August 20, in order to prepare a recommendation for the Council’s consideration. There was not a
quorum of the TAC, however. The two members present expressed strong support for continuing the demonstration transit project and using Local Option Tax funds as match for a grant to
fund continued operation. Additional revenue options were discussed, including fares, advertising, Medicare, senior program funds, accommodators, and private donations.
RECOMMENDED
ACTION:
Continue the demonstration transit project on a year-round basis
Endorse the use of Local Option Tax funds as at least partial match for grant applications submitted by Treasure
Valley Transit, subject to voter approval of a Local Option Tax.
