Agendas are posted at least 72 hours before the meeting time. Public Comment (?) * Dear Town Council, 7.1 I am writing to express my deepest concern for many items in the General Plan update. First and foremost is the Climate Action Plan and the push to electrification. 1100% completely oppose this. I wrote to Anna Klovstad about my concern for this and this was her reply: "Reach Codes are still at the committee stage. We are not eliminating gas appliances. Please help me disseminate that fact. The committee is looking at ways to decarbonize our housing. That could take many forms but we will not be making anyone remove gas appliances that they currently have anytime soon." I wrote back and said that was not 100% truthful as the future regulations would indeed eliminate gas appliances. She never responded. And here it is in our General Plan. She was untruthful with me. I do not respect that. I implore each of you to understand where the resources and energy is coming from for electrical grid and most importantly rechargable batteries. Cobalt, lithium and manganese are being mined in African countries by children and pregnant women and these mines are toxic, slave labor mines owned by the Chinese. They own all the mines we need for resources, they make all the solar panels. They know if they can defeat our energy independance they can destroy us. Wake up! Look at the big picture! They are in this for the long game as they have for thousands of years. Before you send us into the oblivion of electrified universe please EDUCATE yourselves on what this really means. So, China is expanding their coal powered plants at a rate faster than any nation in the world but we in Truckee must give up our gas? NO WAY!! Honestly, this makes me so mad that you people think you know what is best from us taxpayers. You don't. You have been bought and sold by the lies of pushing carbon neutral homes. Natural gas is the cleanest, most abundant energy in the world and especially the United States. Natural gas is FAR cleaner than recharchable batteries. I oppose the Vacancy tax. I oppose increasing the height of structures in Downtown. Taller structures will significantly decrease the historic character of Truckee. Developers want taller structures to make more money. Shame on you for bowing to this!! I oppose reducing parking in Downtown corridor. So much to say on this. Most importantly, I oppose eliminating gas appliances because we need gas as an efficient energy source, when power goes out we need gas to cook and heat our homes.
