Truckee town council -
I am writing to express support to for the planning commission's recommendations on the Truckee general plan, and urge you to reevaluate your
approach to the plan moving forward. As stated in the planning commission hearings, the plan is a sloppy, vague document with no definitions and little
community support. Please return to the drawing board, use current data and analyses, and draft clear and enforceable policies that reflect real life
priorities of your constituents. Finally, please start paying attention to the community and what we are telling you. As compared to 10 years ago, the
council and town staff seem closed off and inaccessible, more than willing to respond to communications by "providing information", but unwilling to sit
down and have real, open discussion with community members and truly hear our concerns. The rejection of the general plan should show you that you
are out of touch with the community that you represent. As you move forward, please do less "communicating" and more listening, and adjust your
priorities to reflect those of your constituents.
