SUMMARY STATEMENT: Council directed staff to take steps to again seek voter approval of a local option tax. Last November the majority of voters supported the tax,
but we did not achieve the majority required to pass the tax. Attached is the draft ballot that incorporates the work of the last Local Option Tax Committee, the citizen’s group who
worked in support of a Local Option Tax, the staff, and the input received from Councilmembers. It adds the skateboard park, library, and golf course as specific uses. The ballot must
be approved by Council and submitted to the Clerk for inclusion in the November election. Staff will also prepare a final version of the ordinance required, draft copy also attached.
RECOMMENDED
ACTION: Approve the draft ballot and direct the City Clerk to take all actions required to include the LOT on the November ballot.
