PROCLAMATION
Truckee, California
WHEREAS, May is Affordable Housing Month, you’re invited to join us in imagining Truckee as a place where residents have a place to live and are looked after, cared for, and thriving,
because we are all neighbors; and
WHEREAS, whether you’re a business owner, tech innovator, an artist, retiree, student, or ski lift operator – no matter your stage of life, race, or income, you are neighbor and you
belong here; and
WHEREAS, one of the most fundamental aspects of living and thriving in a neighborhood is having access to a safe, stable, and affordable home, yet some of our neighbors are unhoused,
and still others are unable to afford the cost of housing in the Town, and many local employees must commute long distances: and
WHEREAS, the Town is developing programs like the Lease to Locals Program which has housed more than 240 residents, the Truckee Home Access Program which has already helped two local
families purchase homes, the Accessory Dwelling Unit Program, and more programs as well as providing funding to create adequate housing options for our workforce and those that find
current options out of their reach: and
WHEREAS, this Affordable Housing Month, we invite you to say “yes” to proven, evidence-based solutions that can ensure that every person has a safe, stable, and affordable place to call
home.
Now, therefore, be it proclaimed, by the Mayor of the Town of Truckee does invite you to join us in being a good neighbor and imagining a community where everyone sees you as their neighbor,
because when we all thrive, we can build stronger, more resilient and diverse communities, ones where all our neighbors belong.
