SUMMARY STATEMENT: This agreement
is based upon the ICRMP model and was reviewed by the City Attorney and the Police Advisory Committee in advance of your receipt of same. Sheriff Durfee supports this agreement and it
is my understanding in speaking to him that the County Commissioners support this agreement also. The Sheriff and Commission Chair will review and sign this agreement subsequent to Council
action and at an undetermined date in the near future.
A mutual aid agreement will simply serve to formalize a relationship which has historically always existed between emergency
service providers in that when help is needed they ask and we respond. This agreement will serve to articulate the specific roles, responsibilities and authority of the respective parties
when we are sharing services. It also provides a sense of support for the police department that when entering into these assisting roles, we are backed by the highest levels of City
Government in doing so.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve the mutual aid agreement and authorize the Mayor and the Chief of Police to sign.
