The University of Idaho has conducted a study of roof and ground snow patterns, establishing the ground snow in McCall. Holladay Engineering has determined that the basic roof snow load in McCall is 150 lbs/ft2, up from the former 120 lbs/ft2 under the Uniform Building Code (UBC) (see attached letter). The formula takes into account the elevation of the building site, site characteristics such as tree cover and general wind patterns, and roof design. The formula allows reductions in the roof snow load, potentially to a snow load less than 120 lbs/ft2. Ordinance 775 amends the IBC to restrict the roof snow load to no lower than 120 lbs/ft2. This retains the same level of protection provided by the UBC. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Suspend the rules and read Ordinance 775 by title only, one time only. Adopt Ordinance 775. RECORD OF COUNCIL ACTION Meeting Date Action 2/13/03 Read one time by title only and Ordinance 775 Adopted by Council.
