A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD TO
AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD TO TAKE
NECESSARY STEPS TO ACCEPT UP TO ONE MILLION DOLLARS OF EAR FUNDS
TO REMEDIATE THE 11600 LONG BEACH BOULEVARD
WHEREAS, The City of Lynwood approved the Long Beach Specific Plan to
encourage development along its major commercial corridor; and
WHEREAS, a major disincentive to development along this corridor is the
potential existence of hazardous substances and petroleum contamination at various
locations along this corridor; and ,
WHEREAS, the owner of 11600 Long Beach Blvd has received several Cleanup
and Abatement Orders; and
WHEREAS, the Lynwood Redevelopment Agency has not received any
information from the owner of the 11600 Long Beach Blvd. regarding clean up plans for
the site within the last two years; and
WHEREAS, The City of Lynwood submitted an application to the Los Angeles
Regional Water Quality Board requesting one million dollars to remediate the Garfield
Express Site; and
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES
HEREBY FIND, DETERMINE, ORDER AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Authorize the City Manager to take necessary steps, including the
execution of an agreement with the Water Quality Board in a form approved by the City
Attorney, to accept up to one million dollars of funds to remediate petroleum
contamination located at 11600 Long Beach Boulevard.
Section 2. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
adoption.
