Attached is the final Ordinance implementing a 3% lodging tax. Minor revisions have been made,
based on Council’s previous discussions and the City Attorney’s comments.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:

The Council considered various alternatives for a ‘bed tax’ on June 24. Council members expressed a desire to discuss
the issue individually with accommodators before the July 8 Council meeting and to receive comments from the public at the July 8 meeting.

SUMMARY STATEMENT: Attached are the two key sections of the Local Option Tax Ordinance from the last election. The Council at various times
has indicated a desire to move forward with some form of a local option tax. The nature of the tax is contained in section 3, the uses in section 5. Council has a variety of options
at this point including but not limited to not moving forward with any LOT on the ballot, determining the form and uses and directing staff to place it on the ballot, involving members
of a committee to make recommendations on form and uses, or any combination thereof.
