SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The City of McCall currently turns over returned checks and
past due accounts balances to a collection agency (Collection Bureau, Inc.) to recoup lost revenue. For their service, Collection Bureau, Inc. keeps 33% of any amount collected and
remits the rest to the City.
We have recently learned that Idaho Statute allows collection agencies to charge a percentage fee in addition to the original debt amount owed to the
City. Credit Data Idaho, Inc. provides their service in accordance with Idaho Statute. They charge an additional 29% which they retain upon collection and return 100% of the original
debt balance to the City.
We would like to change collection agencies to allow for a greater return on past due debt balances. The City attorneys have approved the contract as attached.
RECOMME

Approve the contract and authorize the Mayor to sign.
