SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The Department is considering
applying for a DOJ grant “Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws.” This grant will help fund overtime for surveillance of businesses which have a history of selling to juveniles, identify
adults who are procuring alcoholic beverages for juveniles and help fund underage compliance checks on establishments that sell alcohol. The grant request can be for up to $7,500 and
no match is required from the City. The grant period is from April 1, 2005 to March 31, 2006. The deadline for application is January 15, 2005.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve the
submission of the Department of Juvenile Corrections grant application and authorize the Mayor to sign all related documents.
