SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The applicant is seeking a renewal of a hardship
adjustment to decrease the standard municipal water fees charged to her. The applicant’s sole income sources are SSI, SSD, and AABD in the amount of $616.00 per month ($7,392.00 annually).
The current water base rate is $38.70 per month. Staff recommends that the hardship be granted at the established level for a family of one. The base rate would be adjusted to
$22.50 per month with an allowed usage limit of 6,000 gallons. Any amount of usage over this limit would be charged to the applicant at $0.71 per 1,000 gallons. Granting the hardship
to the applicant would create a difference between the standard rate and hardship adjustment of $16.20 per month plus the monthly usage.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve the renewal
of a hardship adjustment to decrease the standard water fees charged to the applicant.
