SUMMARY
STATEMENT: The City Council directed the staff to address the issues raised regarding this project and to obtain the support of the Airport Advisory Committee. Following the February
12the Council meeting the Airport Manager contacted the FAA and did some additional research. Attached are copies of correspondence regarding this project. On March 4, 2004 the Airport
Manager presented the information to the Airport Advisory Committee. The AAC then unanimously passed the following motion: “The AAC supports proceeding with the renovation project
and asks that the Airport Manager draft an agreement that addresses the specific items raised by the FAA and to review the draft agreement with the FAA and AAC prior to finalizing the
lease agreement.” The final lease agreement will be presented to the City Council for action once the FAA and AAC have completed their review.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve the award
of the job to Winston Yeast Construction and authorize the Mayor to sign the agreement when finalized. Direct the staff to develop an agreement between the Airport and Parks and Recreation
Department that complies with the FAA’s intent and review the agreement with the FAA and AAC prior to execution.
