Call to order Meeting was called to order at 10:00 a.m. 2. Old Business a. IBC 3001.2 – Emergency Elevator Communication The committee dicussed the recent deletion of this provision in Columbia, MO, based on the industry’s inability to provide the integrated technology and service. All agreed to strike this section from the Jefferson City code. b. IBC 3113 – Relocatable Buildings The committee discussed and will draft a revision to exempt relocatable buildings under 400 square feet in area. 3. New Business – Review of IFC Amendments & Significant Changes The committee discussed the City’s current amendments to the 2015 IFC. Mr. Doerhoff made a motion to keep the current amendments without change. Mr. Connell seconded the motion. The motion passed unoppposed. The committee discussed the significant changes in the 2018 IFC through Chapter 10. Significant discussion followed regarding the change in Section 1103.5.1 regarding the requirement to retrofit sprinklers in A-2 Occupancies over 300 people serving alcohol. Chief Turner clearly conveyed that the Fire Department supports the use of automatic fire suppression systems to enhance safety, but is wary of enforcing a retroactive provision on the approximately 100 legally operating businesses that would fall under this requirement in Jefferson City. Further discussions included how to determine which businesses/occupancies fall under this requirement, possible extensions of enforcement, incentives provided by insurers, the City, or other government entities, and the ability to provide alternate safety measures in lieu of automatic sprinklers under the IEBC. This item was tabled for further discussion at subsequent meetings. 4. Public Comments There was no public present. 5. Next meeting date Next Meeting is scheduled for August 19, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. Material to be reviewed at this meeting will be the continued review of the Significant Changes to the 2018 IFC. 6. Adjourn Meeting was adjourned at 12:06 p.m.
