Call to order Meeting was called to order at 3:00p.m. 2. Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes A motion was made by Charles Skornia and seconded by Holly Stitt to approve the minutes of the June 16th , 2021 meeting. 3. Old Business N/A 4. New Business IRC Changes and Amendment Review – Chris read each Amendment as outlined in the agenda. a. R308.4.4 - Glazing in Guards and Railings-Chris asked for clarification of changes. Brian discussed the changes. Committee members discussed guards and railings. Committee decided to leave as is. b. R308.4.7 - Glazing Adjacent to the Bottom Stair Landing-Charles brought up discussion about safety glazing. Brian explained safety glazing in stair landings. Committee decided to leave as is. c. R309.5 Fire Sprinklers (Garages and Carports) - Committee decided to delete this section d. R310.1 Emergency Escape and Rescue Openings – Committee decided to leave as is. e. R310.3 Area Wells for Emergency Escape and Rescue Doors – Charles read his understanding of the code. Brian stated, “It’s the same! The written language was changed for better clarification.” Committee decided to leave as is. f. R311.7.1, R311.7.8 – Handrail Projection – Committee discussed the changes. Committee decided to leave as is. g. R311.7.3 - Maximum Stair Rise between Landings – Chris explained the changes. Committee members discussed the changes . Committee decided to delete this section. h. R311.7.5.1 – Risers – Chris read the added exceptions about requirements of closed risers. Brian discussed why the changes were made. Committee discussed the changes and code. Committee decided to remove exception R.311.7.5.1 that was previously excepted. i. R311.7.5.3 - Stair Nosing’s – Committee discussed what type of materials that were not acceptable. Committee decided to leave as is. j. R311.7.11, R311.7.12 – Alternating Tread Devices and Ships Ladders – Committee decided to leave as is. k. R312.1 - Guards – Committee decided to leave as is. l. R312.2 - Window Fall Protection – Brian discussed this code and why it was deleted. Committee decided to leave it deleted. m. R313 - Automatic Fire Sprinkler Systems – Due to State residential regulations, committee decided to delete this section from the code. n. R314 - Smoke Alarms – Committee decided to leave as is. o. R314.4 - Interconnection (Smoke Alarms) – Committee decided not to take this section out. p R315 - Carbon Monoxide Alarms – Committee had a discussion and decided to leave as is. Will discuss the following codes at the next meeting on July 14th, 2021. q. R317.3 Fasteners in Treated Wood r. R322.3 Coastal High-Hazard Floods Zones s.
