HomeMy Public PortalAboutBioSafety Minutes 10-7-2021 BIOSAFETY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES The Watertown BioSafety Committee has scheduled a REMOTE ZOOM meeting on Thursday October 7, 2021 at 7:00 pm PRESENT: Bradford M. Parsons Committee Member, Dr, Deborah McEwan Committee Member, Larry Ramdin, Director of Public Health, Maureen Foley, Staff Consultant: Mia Tova Lieberman In attendance Rob Derosier, Joe Patel,Xingyue He, Gary Shapiro,Antonia Pugliese,Kelsey Finn, Elisa Cerveira, Laura Mark, Laura Brandano, Matthew O'Brien, Kim Nguyen, Paige Swanson CALL TO ORDER: Larry Ramdin called the meeting to order 7:02 pm Minutes 1. Minutes approvals for September 2,2021 (Parsons,McEwan) Roll Call Public Comment No Public comments Registrations: Vertex Cell& Genetic Therapies—490 Arsenal Way Laura Mark,BioSafety Officer gave a short synopsis of Vertex's activities with a slide show. Dr. McEwan asked if all the organisms listed in the IBC minutes were complete. The Certificate of Liability must state the certificate holder is the Town of Watertown Brad Parsons stated all the training questions he had were answered in the presentation. A motion was made to recommend approval of the application to the Board of Health with the following conditions: 1. Confirm all organisms are listed with containment levels and decontamination plan 2. Certificate of Liability with the holder as the Town of Watertown (McEwan,Parsons) Roll Call Corner Therapeutics—300 North Beacon Street Laura Brandano,Vice President-Operations gave a short synopsis of Corner's activities. Kelsey Finn,Oncology Scientist gave a short synopsis of lab activities. Brad Parsons thanked Corner for submitting their application prior to moving into their Watertown Facility. Brad questioned the hazardous waste and chemical waste plans. Dr. McManus stated the application was thorough, all the protocols are backed up by IBC minutes. The A motion was made to recommend approval of the application to the Board of Health as submitted. 2 1 Page (Parsons,McEwan) Roll Call Brad Parsons would like to move around the agenda,Dyno Therapeutics and Affini-T Therapeutics share the same space. He would like to hear from Affini-T after Dyno presents. Dyno Therapeutics—343 Arsenal Street Paige Swanson,Associate Director-Operations, gave a short synopsis of Dyno's activities. Brad Parsons questioned the dedicated space for NHP cells. Once the move to Watertown,the community member on the IBC will have to be the Belmont person. Mr. Ramdin is requesting a more larger floor plan,layout and space. The Certificate of Liability must state the certificate holder is the Town of Watertown. A motion was made to recommend approval of the application to the Board of Health with the following conditions: 1. Larger floor plan. 2. Certificate of Liability with the holder as the Town of Watertown (Parsons,McEwan) Roll Call Affini-T Therapeutics,Inc.—343 Arsenal Street Kim Nguyen, Chief Technical Officer, gave a short synopsis of Affini-T's activities. Xingyue He, Scientist gave a short synopsis of Afflni-T's science activities. Dr. McEwan stated the Certificate of Liability must state the certificate holder as the Town of Watertown. With lentivirus,the lab must treat the whole space as lentispace. Brad Parsons stated the company is out of Seattle,what materials will be shipped to WA. Larry Ramdin requested a larger floor plan and an updated Certificate of Liability. A motion was made to recommend approval of the application to the Board of Health with the following conditions: 1. Larger floor plan. 2. Certificate of Liability with the holder as the Town of Watertown (McEwan,Parsons) Roll Call Treeline Biosciences—500 Arsenal Street Sahil Joe Patel, Chair of IBC gave a short synopsis of Treelines's activities. Brad Parsons stated the company has lab in San Diego,what materials will be shipped to CA. The chemical Hygiene is marked as a draft. Please send the final version. Mr. Parsons questioned the layout on the 2nd floor for safe chemical and bio waste removal. Dr. McEwan stated the application was thorough with training and lentivirus precautions. WBSC needs your occupational health agreement. A motion was made to recommend approval of the application to the Board of Health with the following conditions: 1. Final version of the Chemical Hygiene plan. 2. Submit your occupational health agreement (McEwan,Parsons) Roll Call 2 1 Page Additional Business All applications should be submitted electronically though TEAMS to the consultant then the committee members to be reviewed.
