MINUTES
The Watertown BioSafety Committee has scheduled a REMOTE ZOOM meeting on
Thursday August 5, 2021 at 7:00 pm
PRESENT: Heather McManus PhD, Chairperson, Bradford M. Parsons Committee Member,
Deborah L. Mc Ewan PhD Committee Member, Larry Ramdin, Director of Public Health
Consultant: Mia Tova Lieberman
In attendance Rob Derosier, Corey Martin, Sheldon Leung PhD, Michelle Crawford,
CALL TO ORDER: Dr. McManus called the meeting to order 7:02 pm

1. Minutes approvals were tabled for December 3, 2020, January 7, 2021 until September, 2021

Review of the Registration will be tabled until September 2021.
Selecta Biosciences — 65 Grove Street
Sheldon Leung, Director Translational Biology & Bioanalytical gave a short synopsis of Selecta's activities.
Larry Ramdin stated Selecta's IBC minutes arrived today. Dr. McEwan stated the IBC minutes did not
describe the risks with the high level of experiments. There is a lack of specificity and generalities with risk
assessment, protocols, materials and correct discussions.
Brad Parsons questioned the hazardous waste management.
IBC minutes need to be reworked and expanded with additional details.
A motion was made to recommend approval of the application to the Board of Health with the following
conditions:
1. Submit expanded and clearer IBC minutes by 12:00pm om August 13, 2021 2. Provide risk management
for each processes and materials by 12:00pm om August 13, 2021

Watertown's Biotechnology Regulation applicability to different types of Life Science Work
Reviewed sections 3 and 4. Committee with make minor changes for clarification purposes. _
Safety representatives will have an opportunity to offer input on this document.
Additional Business
Mia Tova Lieberman, veterinarian and lab veterinarian was introduced to WBSC. She is going to screen
applications to determine if the lab is registered or permitted facility.
